Related Services Workgroup Report Available

Please click here for the ODE announcement the release of the Related Services Workgroup Report and Recommendations. OSPA was an active participant in this workgroup, with Ann Brennan, Executive Director, and members: Susan Davies, Ph.D., University of Dayton, Professor of School Psychology and Coordinator of the School Psychology Program and John Biltz, recently retired school psychologist, and former Akron Public Schools Coordinator and Supervisor of School Psychologists, serving on the workgroup.

The Workgroup met several times over a year and a half, and produced educational and recruitment tools, including videos and one page descriptions explaining the roles and responsibilities of each provider. They can both be accessed on ODE’s new website section on Related Service Providers.

Additionally the Workgroup’s report contains several substantive solution based recommendations addressing related service provider recruitment, retention and shortages.

I hope you will take the time to review the report and share with your fellow school staff.

Next steps, ODE will share with the State Board and the Ohio legislature, and OSPA will use the report for our continuing advocacy to address the most severe and longer term shortages.

Feel free to send questions and or feedback on the Report, I will be happy to respond.

Best to all,

Ann Brennen,
OSPA Executive Director
