Many OSPAites, particularly those with hairs of gray tint, may have memories of Herm Zielinski, or HERM as he was commonly called. School psychologists of recent vintage were unfortunately denied the opportunity to chuckle, guffaw, knowingly nod, and thoroughly appreciate the askew but on-target humor, parody, and sensitivity that were present in his poems, witticisms, and cartoons, all of which were focused on the realities of our profession. A profession, then and now, that works for children with disparate abilities, social backgrounds, ethnicities, and families within widely varying educational structures.
