The Kent Akron Association of School Psychologists (KAASP) is one of the regional affiliates of the Ohio School
Psychologists Association. KAASP is committed to promoting the professional growth of school psychologists
by sharing ideas, methods, and current research and practices in the area of school psychology and other
related fields.

TRAINING GOAL: Effective 04/06/2023, the definition of a “child with a disability” was updated to include a child who is at least three years of age and less than ten years of age, who is experiencing developmental delays. This training will allow you to explore how the expanded definition of Developmental Delay may impact decision-making when selecting the appropriate eligibility category for students aged 3-9.

TRAINING GOAL: This training will also provide you with an opportunity to dive into Ohio’s Special Education Profiles that are assigned to each district to set annual targets - or goals - for how districts should perform on these indicators. Every year, districts receive a Special Education Profile that shows whether they are meeting their goals, over time, for students with disabilities.

Finally, this training will provide you with the opportunity to connect and network with fellow School Psychologists in a virtual or in-person setting.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: As a result of this training, participants will:
● Explore Ohio’s expanded definition of Developmental Delay
● Be provided with an overview of Ohio’s Special Education Profiles assigned to districts
WHO: Dr. Jenine Sansosti SST-8 Director AND Stacey Smith SST-8 Assistant Director/Educational Consultant
Dr. Jenine Sansosti is the Director of the State Support Team, Region 8 (SST8 - Medina, Summit Portage Counties). Jenine also works directly with districts and community schools on topics related to equity in special education, academic and behavioral multi-tiered systems of support, and implementation of IDEA. She serves on the state advisory teams for Ohio’s State Personnel Development Grant and State Systemic Improvement Plan projects, and she previously served on the statewide disproportionality in special education workgroup and Ohio PBIS Network.
Stacey Smith is Assistant Director/Educational Consultant with State Support Team, Region 8 (SST8). As part of her role, Stacey
supports preschool special education and early childhood Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). She serves on the
regional State Personnel Development Grant team, supporting the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) within a pilot district, and also serves several regional committees focused on trauma-informed care, mental health/wellness, and transition to Kindergarten.
