The Evaluation Team Report (ETR) and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is a team process, which means that as school psychologists we must encourage the team to work together. To have successful teams, communication between members should include creative thinking and a shared commitment to the process (Hartmann, 2016). These teams can be large and provide frequent inconsistent opportunities to interact with each other. The practices of the ETR and IEP meetings are often not equally accessible to all members of the team (Hartmann, 2016). Getting teachers involved in the decision-making process allows for connection and action for the students’ education. Members of the students’ team includes those who worked to plan and deliver services (Hartmann, 2016).
