Digital or virtual academies have been in operation for quite some time. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic districts have begun offering a virtual learning option for their students. Each district implements this differently, but one thing these students can miss out on is extracurricular activities. This is due to factors, lack of transportation, health concerns or lack of information about the activities offered by the district. In one local school district morning announcements at all grade levels are made through a PA system within each building. This means that if a student is not physically present in the building, they will not hear the announcements. This means missing out on dance announcements, tryout schedules, school sponsored trips, the theme for a sporting event, and many more activities that occur.
